HC Deb 25 May 1922 vol 154 c1395
43. Captain W. BENN

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government has received any assurance from the French Government that, in the exercise of the rights conferred by Paragraph 18, Annex 2, Part VIII, of the Treaty of Versailles, the French Government would not act save in accord with its Allies?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN (Leader of the House)

I would refer the hon. and gallant. Member to the answer which I gave to the hon. and gallant Member for Central Hull (Lieut.-Commander Ken-worthy) on the 18th instant. That answer is now the subject of correspondence with the French Government-, and, in these circumstances, I should prefer not to make any further statement at the present time.
