HC Deb 08 May 1922 vol 153 cc1781-2
59. Lieut.-Colonel JAMES

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the German Government has appointed as its diplomatic representative in Russia a person who till recently was manager of Messrs. Krupps' armament factory at Essen; and whether he has information to the effect that the Soviet Government have granted Messrs. Krupps certain concessions in Russia, including sites and the control of a large armament factory near Moscow?

Earl WINTERTON

I have no knowledge of the appointment referred to in the first part of the hon. and gallant Member's question. A concession in the South of Russia has been granted to Messrs. Krupps by the Soviet Government, but I am not aware of its nature.

Lieut.-Colonel JAMES

Will the Noble Lord make inquiries at the earliest possible date, and find out what the nature of it is, considering the importance of the question?

Earl WINTERTON

I will make representations to the Secretary of State.
