HC Deb 04 May 1922 vol 153 cc1554-5
59. Mr. GRITTEN

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is in a position to state at what date the Committee appointed by him to inquire into the circumstances and conditions of the rubber industry will issue its report?

Mr. WOOD

I am not in a position to add anything to the information contained in the answer given to the hon. and gallant Member for Bradford (Major Boyd Carpenter) on 4th April.

Mr. GRITTEN

May I ask the hon. Gentleman whether, in view of the very serious and unfortunate condition of this important industry, in which over £90,000,000 are invested, he can take any steps to expedite the somewhat leisurely proceedings of this Committee?

Mr. WOOD

Oh, no. I can assure my hon. Friend that their proceedings are not leisurely.
