§ 99. Mr. CAIRNSasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that part of Cambois colliery village, Northumberland, has been flooded; that 60 workmen's homes have been inundated with water, and that the furniture has been destroyed in many houses; and will he, as Minister of Health, help from the Imperial funds to 1550 provide new houses for these unfortunate people?
§ Sir A. MONDI regret that there is no fund at my disposal out of which compensation could be given for the damage caused by the floods to which the hon. Member refers. I understand that a voluntary fund is being raised in the locality.
§ Mr. CAIRNSThat is no good. It is merely a case of the poor helping the poor.
§ Sir A. MONDI have no power to do more.
