§ 26. Mr. R. YOUNGasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether established men from other dockyards who were sent to Rosyth, and who wore 50 years of age, were promised employment until they reached the age of 60; if not, will he state on what scale of bonus and pension will such men be paid; and whether they will be entitled to removal expenses to their late dockyard towns?
§ The CIVIL LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Commander Eyres-Monsell)The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative, as no pensionable Government servant is guaranteed employment up to the age of 60. The scale of pension is laid down by the Superannuation Acts. Bonus on pension will be regulated by the recent Treasury Minute issued as a White Paper on the 24th March (No. 55). Removal expenses to other dockyard towns will not be paid.
§ Mr. R. YOUNGIn the event of a man being discharged and returning to his home dockyard, if he has a son in Rosyth as an apprentice, will that son be transferred to the other dockyard?
