HC Deb 13 March 1922 vol 151 c1776
68. Sir W. de FRECE

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport whether it is his policy in the case of new railway Bills coming before the House with a request for further privileges to ascertain before these are granted whether the fair claims of the public for considerate treatment under the powers now possessed are adequately recognised; and, if so, whether he has adopted this policy in respect of the private Bills now being promoted?

Mr. NEAL

I am always willing to consider any complaint of the nature mentioned which is brought to my notice, and, if as a result of such consideration it appears desirable, to communicate with the company concerned. I do not, however, think it my duty no conduct an investigation of the nature suggested whenever a railway company seeks additional powers from Parliament.
