§ 5. Mr. GILBERTasked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can state how many coloured troops the French have in their army of occupation in Germany; whether such coloured troops have been sent into Germany with the consent of the Supreme Council; whether any complaints or protests have been received from the German Government by His Majesty's Government against the use of such coloured troops; and, if so, what action has been taken by the British Government on the matter?
Mr. HARMSWORTHI understand that the strength of the French Colonial troops in the occupied territory of Germany is about 18,000. The composition of the French occupying force is a matter for the French Government. The answer to the third part of the question is in the negative. The fourth part, therefore, does not arise.
