HC Deb 14 February 1922 vol 150 c790
12. Mr. S. ROBERTS

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware of grave dissatisfaction amongst ex-service men at the appointment of a police pensioner as superintendent of police at the Rotherwas Factory, Hereford; and whether he will give instructions for the reconsideration of all the facts and circumstances connected with his appointment?

The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Sir Laming Worthington-Evans)

I cannot re-open this matter. While anxious to give an ex-service man the preference, the appointment was given to the man best qualified by previous experience for the work to be done. There was no ex-service applicant with the necessary experience and qualifications.
