HC Deb 14 February 1922 vol 150 c790
50. Colonel NEWMAN

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government of this country intends to carry into effect the legislation promised with regard to the resettlement of ex-soldiers of the imperial forces resident in that portion of Ireland that has been formed into a free state?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Churchill)

Yes, Sir. It is contemplated that arrangements should be made between the British Government and the Government of the Irish Free State for the continuance of the special assistance at present afforded through various Government Departments to ex-service men in connection with industrial training, the obtaining of employment, land settlement, and housing.

Colonel NEWMAN

Would it not be possible to help these men to emigrate overseas?

Mr. CHURCHILL

That is quite another question.
