§ 70. Mr. T. GRIFFITHSasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it is in accordance with precedent to appoint a bankrupt to the position of Steward to the Chiltern Hundreds?
§ Sir R. HORNEThere is no record of precedents with regard to the Chiltern Hundreds at my disposal. I may say, however, that it would not be in accordance with modern practice or the principles enunciated from time to time by my predecessors, for the Chancellor of the Exchequer to withhold the Chiltern Hundreds from a bankrupt.
