§ 61. Mr. REMERasked the Minister of Agriculture whether there is any change of policy with reference to foot-and-mouth disease; whether it is proposed to change the policy of slaughtering and institute the policy of isolation; and whether, before adopting any such change of policy, he will consult fully the agricultural interests?
§ Major BARNSTONThe reply to the first part of the question is in the negative. It has always been the practice to isolate in certain cases, and I would refer the hon. Member to the concluding portion of my right hon. Friend's reply yesterday, to the hon. and gallant Member for Kincardine and Western (Lieut. -Colonel Murray), in which he stated the principles on which the Ministry acts.
