HC Deb 15 June 1921 vol 143 cc405-6
47. Mr. GALBRAITH

asked the Prime Minister whether it is the intention of the Government to adopt the recommendation of the Ninth Report of the National Expenditure Committee, 1918, that the Treasury should cease to be a spending Department?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

If the hon. Member will be good enough to refer to the answer given on the 26th February, 1920, to the hon. Member for Oxford, he will see that I then stated that I was "in general agreement with this recommendation, which, indeed, represents substantially the present position."
