HC Deb 18 April 1921 vol 140 c1534
73. Colonel Sir C. YATE

asked the Secretary of State for India if he is aware that large numbers of demobilised officers have been kept waiting for some months in Bombay for their passage home; and what steps are being taken in the matter?

The SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Mr. Montagu)

My information does not coincide with that of my hon. and gallant Friend. On the contrary, I understand that the Government of India telegraphed two months ago that the accommodation on troopships exceeded the demand by 100 berths. But if he can let me have particulars of any recent delays, I will make inquiries.
