HC Deb 12 April 1921 vol 140 c899
19. Mr. TYSON WILSON

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the War Office whether, when there is a large number of manual workers discharged from factories and works under the control of his Department, there is a corresponding reduction in the clerical and supervising staffs?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

Yes, Sir; the discharges at the ordnance factories and the national factories during the past six months show a reduction of industrial workers equivalent to 3.89 per cent. and of clerical and supervisory staff equivalent to 7.71 per cent. As the work decreases reductions are made, irrespective of the class of worker affected.
