47. Major Sir KEITH FRASER

asked the Prime Minister whether he will state from the Ministries of Shipping, Food, and Munitions how many of the employés have been transferred to other Departments; and how many have been dispensed with altogether?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Lieut.-Commander Hilton Young)

Particulars of the staffs of the Ministries of Shipping, Food and Munitions transferred to other Departments ion the closing of the Ministries are given in the replies to the hon. Members for Wood Green and Rotherham on the 5th and 6th instant. The reductions effected in the staffs of the three Ministries during the month of March numbered approximately 1,000.

Captain W. BENN

Can the hon. Gentleman say whether Supplementary Estimates will be presented by these Departments in respect of these services, or whether the original Estimates contain the necessary provision?

Lieut. - Commander YOUNG

The original Estimates contain the necessary provision, and therefore no Supplementary Estimates will be required.
