HC Deb 04 April 1921 vol 140 c16
21. Mr. KILEY

asked the Chief Secretary whether his attention has been called to the decrees of Dail Eireann with reference to the Census; and, if so, what action he intends to take in the matter?

Mr. HENRY

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Prior to the publication of the so-called decree I had received a report from the Census Commissioners in Ireland recommending that in view of the disturbed state of the country and of the impossibility of procuring accurately the necessary information the taking of the Census in Ireland should be postponed. In that recommendation my right hon. Friend the Chief Secretary concurs although with reluctance.
