HC Deb 26 October 1920 vol 133 cc1531-2
56. Major O'NEILL

asked the Prime Minister whether it is still the intention of the Government to pass, in connection with the Government of Ireland Bill, a Bill to provide for the completion of land purchase in Ireland; and, if so, can he say when the Land Bill will be introduced?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. I am not in a position to name a date when the Bill will be introduced.

Major O'NEILL

Can the right hon. Gentleman give an assurance that in the eent of its being found impossible or difficult to bring about land purchase in Southern Ireland owing to the state of the country, that that will in no way prejudice Northern Ireland in getting the benefits of the scheme?

Mr. BONAR LAW

I think the Government have already pledged themselves to deal adequately with this question in connection with the Home Rule Bill; and that certainly will apply to Northern Ireland.
