HC Deb 21 October 1920 vol 133 cc1066-7
20. Sir J. REMNANT

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the Order under Section 3 of the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1920, extending the provisions of the Act to police pensioners has yet been made; and, if so, whether local authorities have been in- structed to issue application forms as promptly as possible in order that the distress prevalent amongst aged and necessitous pensioners may be relieved immediately?

Mr. SHORTT

Yes, Sir. The Order has been made and police authorities have been asked to issue forms of application to all pensioners who appear to come within the provisions of the Act, and I have no doubt they are doing so.

Sir J. REMNANT

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when the Order was made, and if the application forms which have already been issued received his approval before they were sent out?

Mr. SHORTT

I cannot remember the exact date, of course the form was approved.

Sir J. REMNANT

By the Home Office?

Mr. SHORTT

Yes.
