HC Deb 20 October 1920 vol 133 c911
22. Mr. PURCHASE

asked the Minister of Transport whether the railway system of this country is now running at a profit; whether it will be possible for him to hand over the railways to the companies without any further charge upon the Exchequer; and, if not, whether he has any estimate of the amount of this item?

23. Mr. G. THORNE

asked the Minister of Transport whether he can state the financial results of increasing passenger fares?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of TRANSPORT (Mr. Neal)

I would refer my hon. Friends to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Minister yesterday, to a similar question put by the hon. Member for Stratford (Mr. Lyle).
