HC Deb 17 November 1920 vol 134 cc1870-1
35. Mr. WALTER SMITH

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty whether his attention has been drawn to the case of G. L. Rowe, who was employed by the Admiralty as an engine fitter at Devonport and Invergordon and was transferred in 1920 to Malta; whether he is aware that this man contracted dysentery and died; that his widow in this country has been charged by the Admiralty authorities in Malta with £12 16s. 5d. for making and transporting the coffin and £3 2s. 8d. for digging the grave and burying the remains; and whether he will have inquiries made into this case with a view to refunding this money?

Sir J. CRAIG

This matter is being carefully investigated. If the hon. Member will repeat the question on this day week I hope to have full particulars.
