HL Deb 12 March 1998 vol 587 cc73-4WA
Baroness Flather

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have evaluated the number of members of the ethnic minorities replying to advertisements for public appointments since the new procedures under Lord Nolan's recommendations have come into force. [HL914]

Lord McIntosh of Haringey

All departments encourage applications from under-represented groups using various methods, including advertising, to establish a field of candidates. In accordance with the guidance issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments, individual departments keep information about the selection process undertaken for appointments to executive NDPBs and NHS bodies. This includes equal opportunities data on gender, ethnic origin and disability.
