HL Deb 21 March 1994 vol 553 cc15-6WA
Lord Merrivale

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why picketing has been allowed in Gibraltar since 8 January 1993 between the Convent (the Governor's official residence) and No. 6 Convent Place (the Gibraltar Government's offices), and whether instructions have been given to the police to permit unimpeded passage through this public place.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

No instructions have been given to the police to restore unimpeded passage along that part of the public highway, which is obstructed daily by Moroccan nationals. The demonstration is peaceful.
