HC Deb 21 January 1947 vol 432 c12W
25. Mr. Longden

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware of the discouragement that commanding officers are meting out to Servicemen who submit applications for leave or release; and what he proposes to do in the matter.

Mr. Bellenger

I have no reason to believe that commanding officers are meting out discouragement to Servicemen who apply for leave or release. In fact all my evidence on the subject is to the contrary. Leave and release can, of course, only be granted according to the regulations in force at the time.
