HC Deb 24 October 1968 vol 770 c1558
Mrs. Renée Short

I have the privilege to present to Parliament a Petition for the Campaign for Nursery Education, which is linked with the Petition which collected over 90,000 signatures. The Petition reminds the House that nursery education for the preschool child was promised in the Education Act 1944 and that this was further reinforced by the Plowden Report. The Petition also calls for the withdrawal of Circular 8/60 of the Department of Science and Education so that local education authorities may be permitted to set up nursery classes within the resources of money and staff available, and it calls for the immediate development of nursery classes for educational priority areas. In order to further these ends, Your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray ".

To lie upon the Table.
