HC Deb 01 April 1963 vol 675 c5
13. Sir John Maitland

asked the Minister of Health when the first part of the project for Boston Hospital will go out to tender.

Mr. Powell

1965.

Sir J. Maitland

We have been waiting rather a long time for this hospital—I think it was mooted eight years ago. Can my right hon. Friend be a little more specific? Can he say whether it is early in 1965, or when will it be?

Mr. Powell

As early as I can make it in 1965, but I should not like to be more specific at this stage. As my hon. Friend knows, I have been in touch with him about this matter for a long time. The problem which arose was that the design which resulted from a competition had to be almost completely redrawn. In the course of that it was decided to increase both the size of the hospital and the facilities. So I hope that Boston will get a better and larger hospital, although somewhat later.
