HC Deb 06 March 1956 vol 549 cc1915-6
36. Captain Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland to make a statement on the loss of timber in Scotland due to the gale on the night of 1st January, 1956.

Mr. J. Stuart

It is estimated that about a quarter of a million cubic feet of timber was blown down in Scotland, mainly on private estates in Perthshire and Angus, during the gale of 1st January, 1956. There should not be difficulty in disposing of the timber in the normal way at reasonable prices.
