§ 46. Mr. E. Fletcherasked the Prime Minister what preliminary steps he proposes to take to carry out the recommendations contained in the Report of the Committee on Crown Lands.
§ The Prime MinisterA Permanent Commissioner has just been appointed. It is hoped that in due course this officer, as Civil Service head of the Department, will, in accordance with the Committee's recommendations, become Deputy-Chairman of the proposed Board of Trustees. The Committee on Crown Lands also recommended the choice of a chairman-designate. The Government propose to give effect to this recommendation.
§ Mr. FletcherWould the Prime Minister bear in mind that the Committee was anxious that its recommendations should be carried into effect as soon as possible?
§ The Prime MinisterYes, Sir, that will be done. As I say, we are going to give effect to its recommendations, probably during the Recess.
