HC Deb 21 November 1950 vol 481 cc193-4
44. Mr. Somerset de Chair

asked the Secretary of State for War whether the Centurion tanks which have been sold to Egypt have yet been delivered to the Egyptian Government; and, if not, whether they are still in the United Kingdom, in transit or in the British Ordnance depot in the Canal Zone.

Mr. Strachey

These tanks are still in the United Kingdom.

Mr. de Chair

Is it not somewhat unusual that a country which considers itself entitled to denounce a treaty with ourselves, should also feel itself entitled to the delivery of our latest military equipment?

Mr. Speaker

The Question asked about Centurion tanks and not about the treaty.
