HC Deb 24 March 1949 vol 463 cc565-6
Mr. R. A. Butler

May I ask the Lord President of the Council if he will state the Business for next week.

The Lord President of the Council (Mr. Herbert Morrison)

Yes, Sir.

The Business for next week will be as follows:

Monday, 28th March—Report and Third Reading of the Coal Industry Bill; Consideration of the Lords Amendments to the Tenancy of Shops (Scotland) Bill, and the Public Works (Festival of Britain) Bill.

Tuesday, 29th March—Committee and remaining stages of the Army and Air Force (Annual) Bill, which it is hoped to complete by 7 p.m.; Report and Third Reading of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill; and Consideration of Motion to approve the Representation of the People (Northern Ireland) Regulations.

Wednesday, 30th March—Second Reading of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Bill, and Committee stage of a Ways and Means Resolution; Consideration of Motions to approve the Cinematograph Films (Quotas) Amendment Order, and the Distribution of Industry (Development Areas) Order, and a similar Order relating to Scotland.

Thursday, 31st March, and Friday, 1st April—Second Reading of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Bill, and Committee stage of the necessary Money Resolution.

Mr. Butler

As the Lord President is aware, we have given notice that we wish to take the earliest opportunity of raising the question of meat supplies. We also wish to raise the question of horticulture. I therefore want to ask the right hon. Gentleman if he will arrange for a Supply Day before the Easter Recess on which these subjects can be discussed.

Mr. Morrison

We shall see what we can do. It may be a little difficult before the Easter Recess, but if the matter is discussed through the usual channels, we will see what are the best arrangements to make.

Mr. George Thomas

Can my right hon. Friend say whether he proposes to give the House an opportunity of discussing the interim report of the committee which has been dealing with the question of leasehold reform?

Mr. Morrison

We have not got the report yet, and it would be premature to arrange for a discussion of a report which has not been received.

Lieut.-Commander Gurney Braithwaite

Can the right hon. Gentleman indicate when the Coast Erosion Bill from another place will be debated? Will it be before Easter?

Mr. Morrison

I am not sure about before Easter, but it will not be far off.
