HC Deb 15 March 1945 vol 409 cc365-6
10. Sir Georģe Schuster

asked the Secretary of State for India whether, in view of the splendid contribution to the war effort made by the Indian States, it is proposed to include representatives of such States among the Indian delegation to the San Francisco Conference.

The Secretary of State for India (Mr. Amery)

Yes. The Government of India have announced that India will be represented by Sir Ramaswami Mudaliar and Sir Firoz Khan Ncon, representing British India, and Sir V. T. Krishnamachari, representing the States.

Mr. Gallacher

Would it not be a very desirable thing if India as a whole were represented at San Francisco, as an independent State?

Mr. Edģar Granville

Does the Minister's reply mean that the Indian representatives will be invited to attend the preliminary Commonwealth Conference which is to be held in London?

Mr. Amery

Yes, India will certainly be represented at that Conference.
