HC Deb 03 February 1944 vol 396 c1390
34. Major Procter

asked the Minister of Town and Country Planning if he is in a position to state what steps he has taken, or proposes to take, to further the projects of making the Lake District a national park and the Trough of Bowland a recreational centre.

The Minister of Town and Country Planning (Mr. W. S. Morrison)

As regards the Lake District becoming a national park area, I would refer to the answer given on 27th January, 1944, to the hon. Member for Devizes (Sir P. Hurd), of which I am sending my hon. and gallant Friend a copy. As regards the Trough of Bowland, I am well aware of its potentialities as a recreational centre, and I would assure my hon. and gallant Friend that I shall bear these in mind in considering planning proposals for the area.
