HC Deb 19 October 1943 vol 392 cc1208-9
46. Sir H. Williams

asked the Prime Minister why Orders made by the Secretary of State for India commence with a recital of names and status, whereas those made by the Secretary of State for the Home Department omit such recital; and will be give instructions that so far as possible all Orders shall be uniform in draft?

The Prime Minister (Mr. Churchill)

This difference is of long standing. It does not affect the clarity or the legal validity of the Orders; and this is not a matter in which I see any advantage in enforcing uniformity of practice.
