HC Deb 02 December 1942 vol 385 c1130
6. General Sir George Jeffreys

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any part of the Montreux Treaty is still operative?

Mr. Eden

I assume that my hon. and gallant Friend is referring to the Convention regarding the regime of the Straits signed at Montreux on 20th July, 1936; and the answer is that the whole Convention is still in force.

Sir G. Jeffreys

What is the position as regards our rights in sending ships and supplies to Russia through the Dardanelles?

Mr. Eden

I should rather like to see that Question on the Paper. We are bound by the terms of the Montreux Treaty.
