HC Deb 02 December 1942 vol 385 cc1131-2
8. Mr. Astor

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Governments of Syria, the Lebanon, Trans-Jordan, Iraq and Saudi-Arabia are represented on, or associated with, the Middle East Supply Centre?

Mr. Eden

Relations between the Middle East Supply Centre and the local Governments are maintained through His Majesty's representative in each of the countries concerned. In most Middle East territories local Committees exist through which consultation is effected between the Governments of these countries and the British and United States representatives.

Mr. Astor

Is it not worth considering inviting the countries to be directly represented at the Centre?

Mr. Eden

I should like to consider that. It is a question where the greatest advantage lies.

Commander Locker-Lampson

Are Jews allowed representation in the same way?

Mr. Eden

This is a question of the representation of certain countries.
