HC Deb 26 November 1941 vol 376 c724
4. Mr. Daggar

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that it is proposed to transfer members of the International Brigade and other refugees, now in occupied France, to encampments in North Africa and the Sahara Desert; and whether he will make representations to the American Government with the view of interesting them in having these people transferred to countries prepared to give them asylum?

Mr. Eden

I have no confirmation of the reports referred to in the first part of this Question. As regards the second part, I have recently been in consultation with the United States Government on this subject, and I have no doubt that they are taking any action open to them in regard to refugees now in France.
