HC Deb 25 November 1941 vol 376 cc580-1
15. Miss Cazalet

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is yet in a position to make a statement on the possibility of permitting women to enlist in the Auxiliary Territorial Service on a local service basis for duties in the anti-aircraft command?

Captain Margesson

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for West Edinburgh (Lieut.-Commander Hutchison) on 14th October.

Miss Cazalet

Has the Anti-aircraft Command been consulted on the scheme?

Captain Margesson

As far as I am aware, general consultation is taking place.

Miss Ward

Has there been further consultation after the speech made by the hon. Member for East Islington (Miss Cazalet), when the First Lord said he would ask to have the point looked at?

Captain Margesson

Yes. The matter is now under consideration.
