HC Deb 08 May 1941 vol 371 c975
48. Mr. Vernon Bartlett

asked the Minister of Agriculture what opportunity is given to farmers to appeal against the ploughing-up orders of the war agricultural executive committees?

Mr. Hudson

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave to a Question by the hon. Member for the Isle of Ely (Mr. de Rothschild) on this subject on 27th February.

Mr. Granville

In the case of small working farmers who have been dispossessed, for various reasons—perhaps the lack of capital—is there any opportunity for them, in view of the shortage of labour, to continue working as cultivators, and to assist in food production?

Mr. Hudson

There is nothing to stop them working as agricultural labourers.
