HC Deb 18 March 1941 vol 370 c16
31. Sir Percy Harris

(for Mr. Graham White) asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether consideration has been given to the advisability of instituting one or more meatless days a week in restaurants and catering establishments generally?

Major Lloyd George

Yes, Sir, but, as I informed my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Chatham (Captain Plugge) on 17th December, any necessary restriction in the consumption of meat in restaurants and catering establishments can best be secured by controlling the issue of meat to them.
