HC Deb 11 March 1941 vol 369 cc1135-6
4. Sir A. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he can obtain information regarding Rifleman Ernest Mitchell, prisoner, No. 11142, in Stalag VIII. B, in Germany, as, though his mother was told by the Red Cross Society seven weeks ago that a special message would be sent to Geneva on her behalf, she has heard nothing and is very anxious?

Captain Margesson

I understand that the War Organisation of the British Red Cross Society and Order of St. John sent a cable to Geneva some weeks ago in response to a request from the soldier's mother, and that up to the present no reply has been received. I have asked the War Organisation to send a reminder b cable.
