HC Deb 03 July 1941 vol 372 c1498
67. Captain Profumo

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware that there are still aerodromes in this country at which aircraft of the Royal Air Force have to pay a landing fee even if they are ordered to operate from these stations; and whether he will take action to abolish these conditions?

The Under-Secretary of State for Air (Captain Harold Balfour)

Civil aerodromes required exclusively for Royal Air Force use are normally taken over by requisition. Where, however, only partial or occasional _use by the Royal Air Force is required it is more economical and convenient not to requisition. Payment for the use of the facilities provided and mantained by the owner is either by a special agreement or by fees for individual landings.
