HC Deb 27 February 1941 vol 369 c610
18. Mr. McGovern

asked the Home Secretary to state the number of men, women and children who have lost one or both arms or legs, respectively, and the number who have been blinded in one or both eyes, by enemy bombs since 3rd September, 1939?

Mr. H. Morrison

Precise particulars in the form asked for are not available, but between 1st July, 1940, and 31st January, 1941, the total number of amputations due to injury by enemy action was 776. The number of recorded cases of eye injury of a kind necessitating removal since the outbreak of war is 191.
