§ The Joint Parliamentary' Secretary to the Ministry of Supply (Mr. Harold Macmillan)I am not in a position to give the total cost of the campaign to secure binoculars, but the cost of advertising, including printing and posters, will be less than the sum of £10,000 allowed. Much of the work of the campaign was carried out by the staff of the Ministry in conjunction with their ordinary duties, and accordingly it is not possible to give any reliable estimate of the salary cost attributable to the binocular campaign. Over 55,000 binoculars have been received.
