asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what progress has been made with Anglo-American co-operation in the Pacific; whether the Russian, Chinese and Dutch Governments are co-operating or being consulted; and whether there is possibility of American protection of the Dutch East Indies?

The right hon. Gentleman may rest assured that the importance of contact with friendly Governments on matters of common interest is fully appreciated by His Majesty's Government.

Is a consultation taking place at the present time?

Mr. Butler

Certain conversations of considerable importance have taken place.

Are they concluded, or are they continuing?
