HC Deb 08 October 1940 vol 365 c226
14. Mr. Daggar

asked the Secretary of State for War, why the Welsh university colleges are not included with the eight English and Scottish universities in the scheme for training young men as officers for the technical units of the Army; and whether, having regard to the fact that these Scottish universities are included, he will ask the Civil Service Commissioner to make arrangements for providing these facilities at the Welsh university colleges or technical colleges?

Mr. Eden

I share my hon. Friend's desire to include the Welsh university colleges in the scheme. The difficulty, however, was that, of these colleges, two have no training corps and the other two have not the necessary accommodation for the numbers involved.
