HC Deb 04 March 1940 vol 358 c60
Mr. Elliot

I beg to move, in page 9, line 8, to leave out from the second "the," to "nineteen," in line 9, and to insert "third day of August."

Mr. Naylor (Southwark, South-East)

I want to ask a question, and I have no doubt the right hon. Gentleman will give me a straight answer. Am I right in assuming that the fixing of the dates in this Clause has no connection with the possibility of a General Election in the autumn?

Mr. Elliot

No, Sir, none.

Amendment agreed to.

Further Amendments made:

In page 9, line 12, leave out Sub-section (2).

In line 24, leave out from "said," to the first "the," in line 25, and insert "third day of August."—[Mr. Elliot.]

Clause, as amended, ordered to stand part of the Bill.
