HC Deb 09 July 1940 vol 362 c1060
14. Sir Robert Young

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that soldiers discharged from hospital have to report to their depôts in distant places before going on leave to their homes in London or Liverpool; that this entails loss of time and unnecessary expense; and whether other arrangements will be made to obviate so much travelling for the men affected?

Mr. Eden

I am having this matter examined with a view to the elimination of avoidable travelling.

Mr. Thorne

Is it not a fact that when the soldiers are discharged from hospital they are not sent to a convalescent home?

Mr. Eden

I imagine that my hon. Friend means a later stage, when they have finished with the convalescent home.
