HC Deb 25 May 1939 vol 347 cc2490-1
55. Dr. Guest

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that in the Metropolitan borough of Islington, with a population of over 300,000 within 3,000 acres, there is a shortage of premises suitable for use as first-aid posts; that the board of management of the London Fever Hospital have refused to permit the borough council to equip and use a part of the hospital premises which is isolated from other buildings until the entire evacuation of the hospital has been carried out in time of war, although he has already approved the proposal in principle; and whether he will take steps to see that the management board of the hospital alter their decision?

Mr. Elliot

I am aware that the borough council have had some difficulty in finding enough suitable premises as first-aid posts, but eight have now been located and these will be supplemented by four mobile units. The London Fever Hospital has now agreed that one of the eight posts should be located in the hospital.
