HC Deb 16 February 1939 vol 343 c1889
41. Lieut.-Colonel Heneage

asked the Minister of Health how many parishes in the rural districts of Grimsby, Louth, and Caister have a water supply; and how many still depend on local wells?

Mr. Elliot

The number of parishes in the rural districts of Grimsby, Louth and Caister which have piped water supplies is five, six and 22 respectively; the remaining parishes, numbering 16, 73, and 18 respectively, depend on local wells.

Lieut.-Colonel Heneage

Will my right hon. Friend bear in mind the fact that this is an area to which it is proposed to evacuate adults and children from other areas in a time of emergency; and will he look into the question from that point of view?

Mr. Elliot

Yes, Sir.

Mr. T. Smith

Can the right hon. Gentleman say what prospect there is of these rural parishes in general having a proper water supply?

Mr. Elliot

That is a rather large question to answer without notice.
