HC Deb 16 February 1939 vol 343 c1888
34. Mr. G. Macdonald

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education the number of secondary school pupils in Lancashire, and the number of fee-paying pupils, in 1930 and at the latest date for which figures are available?

Mr. Lindsay

As the answer contains a number of figures, I will, with the hon. Member's permission, circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Mr. Macdonald

Can the hon. Gentleman say now whether the percentage is higher this year than it was in 1930?

Mr. Lindsay

There is not very much change.

Following is the answer:

beds. Proposals for the extension of the mental deficiency colony for this area are also in preparation. The Board of Control have already been in communication with the local authority as regards the removal of the mentally defective children from the mental hospital, and I will communicate further with the hon. Member in regard to this.

Mr. Hopkin

Is it possible for the Minister to say whether or not these four boys have now been removed?

Mr. Elliot

No, Sir; I could not say without notice.
