HC Deb 17 May 1938 vol 336 c222
50. Captain Plugge

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what is the present position with regard to the recommendation which was contained in the report of the Royal Commission on the Civil Service that an inquiry should be set up to consider the desirability of establishing a contributory pension scheme for all Government industrial employés; and whether more rapid progress can now be made in this matter?

The Financial Secretary to the Treasury (Captain Euan Wallace)

The matter is under consideration, but it is one of some complexity in view of the many different classes of employés involved and the number of Departments which are concerned; and I am afraid that I am not yet able to make any further statement on the subject.
